Spin labeled liposomes are used for various types of experiments using Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (EPR also known as ESR). Spin labeled liposomes are used for calibration of the lipid bilayer. The calibration curve is used for measuring the distance of the amino acids in the membrane embedded protein to the phosphate head groups of the liposomes using site directed spin labeling method.
